Instrumental and relaxation music

My alternative passion is creating and recording complex and experimental instrumental music pieces.
Instrumental and relaxation music, to me is a perfect fulfillment to songwriting, because of it’s power and wider spread possibilities of expression.

In 1995, I produced my first instrumental piece “Goldland 1”, of which there can be heard an outtake of a newer recording below. Since then, I explore many different musical styles with many different instruments, to create pieces for to dream, relax and listen to. Instrumental music can take you away on a journey to far away spheres with unseen worlds and magic landscapes.

My instrumentals are also very well suited for to be placed for instance in commercials, movie scores, as jingles or relaxation music.
You can listen to some extracts of my instrumental music pieces below. Please take into account that some few Instrumentals are older recordings.

These are extracts, sorted after their tempo and thoroughly protected by copyright (Gema, Suisa and notarially!) Read the copyrights at the bottom of this page.

Any interested publisher, commercial manager, movie maker, producer or artist, who is on the search for fine instrumental music, as well as of course everyone else, who just likes this music, may contact me and order a complete demo CD. The extract pieces published here are shortened up (80 kbps MP3-Files) and may not be downloaded! Just listen, decide, and then contact me - I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Instrumental pieces

1. Daylight (mid-tempo spheric, sounds “wide”, “uplifting” and “grand”, co-produced by & with Ralf Raisch)
2. Sand and Stars (down-tempo relaxation with a beautiful Piano, soft e-guitars and a relaxing groove, like a silent day on the sea...)
3. Living Forest (down-tempo relaxation with flutes, piano, and an orchestral line up, sounds like a clear, windy spring day in a light forest)
4. Holy Rain (spheric up-tempo, in the beginning relaxing, then faster, flowing, takes you away on a trip over thousand landscapes and also feels a bit “like home”)
5. Arann (rhythmic mid tempo, very beautiful Piano line and Uillean Pipes - that’s an irish Bagpipe)
6. Early Dew (down-tempo relaxation, harmonic piece with flutes [played by Cesar Villafane] and nice acoustic guitars - sound like a flowery meadow at first dew)
7. Guiding Light ( soft, harmonic, down tempo. My latest instrumental piece, it’s unfinished yet and was recorded and co-produced in a warm summer night in 2006 with a good friend - guitarist Marcus Ertzinger - in his studio, which is in an old tiny cosy farmhouse in the german “Westerwald”)
8. Time flies (up-tempo pop/rock, an infectous piece, full of energy - dark vox: Wolfgang Menzel)
9. Dolphin’s eye (up-tempo spheric dance/pop, a mix of modern irish folk and Trance music [for example Robert Miles’ “Children”], with a memoreable Uillean Pipe -melody [that’s an irish bagpipe] - played by Jens Walter)
10. In the morning (this is the Song which I have presented here, but in the clothes of an instrumental piece. Down tempo classical relaxation, eone of my best instrumental melodies, very beautiful and melodic, with a classic and irish touch, leaves you with a raised feeling)
11. Like a thief in the night (soft acoustic piece with guitars and accordeon)
12. Longing (melancholic slow acoustic guitar piece, sounds like a silent twighlighted night, co-produced by & with Ralf Raisch)
13. Moher’s Cliffs (This is an irish sounding piece, written and played by my friend Denis Krnjaic and me. It has a Bodhrán [irish native drum], some nice e- and acoustic guitars, mandolin and piano)
14. Montségur (melancholic piece with classical guitars. Sounds somehow spanish, co-produced by & with Ralf Raisch)
15. Nightbell (mystic-medieval -sounding piece with flute and - which is very exotic, but suits good - a Violin from Thailand, with which I was experimenting a bit)
16. Over the waves (a piece from Denis K. and me - rhythmic, positive and straight, with a nice guitar melody and wide strings)
17. Summer breeze (perhaps my most untypical piece - an experiment with a nice dance beat, easy-listening-like, summerly, would fit good as a jingle...)
18. Africa feels good (an african-style experiment, played with an original african xylophone, bongos and acoustic guitar, sound very happy - typical african...)
19. Wayfarer’s tune (a wonderful, irish influenced piece from Denis K. and me, leaves a positive mood and was originally planned as a jingle melody... now it’s much more...)
20. Between sheltering shades (a bit like “Longing” - melancholic, slow, with beautiful acoustic guitars. Recorded & composed with my “Silent Whisper” -partner Ralf Raisch)
21. “Crazy”-Instrumental (Danceable up-tempo-piece, which I recorded with Felix Retter of my former Band “The Crown. Strongly inspired by Seal’s “Crazy”)
22. Dreaming (A further piece of Felix Retter and me, very “dreamy”, down tempo, and soft-pop-style)
23. Diving with the whales (a bit like “Sand and Stars” - slow, melancholic piece, “blue and deep as the sea”, for to dream [and cast] away...)

26. Windtalkers (extract 3)

28. Ethnic Realm (extract 2)
(Total lenght 11 min. This is a journey through the manifold ethnics of the world - China, Scotland, Brittany, India, Indonesia...)

30. Goldland 1 (extract 2)
31. Goldland 1 (extract 3)
(Total lenght 21 min. My first real instrumental piece [well, this is a newer production, but it is the same music]. This piece was an initiation to me, that’s why it is my “goldpiece” to me until today - it’s like a trip through a wonderful land with mountains, valleys, forests and the sea...)

32. Goldland 2 (extract 1)
33. Goldland 2 (extract 2)
34. Goldland 2 (extract 3)
(Total lenght 24 min. The fantastic journey continues...)

38. Land Riders (extract)

Deep relaxation music

39. Contemplating the inner serenity (extract)
(Total lenght: 57 min. This is a deep relaxation music piece, for which I was experimenting with a technique called “Hemi sync®”. It has nearly no changes and flows steadily with a continuing intensity. Original “Hemi sync®” is a sound-technique, which was discovered by the american pioneer of consciousness and altered states of the mind,
Robert Monroe. Hemi-Sync® is an audio guidance technology that works quite simply by sending different sounds (tones) to each ear through stereo headphones. The two hemispheres of the brain then act in unison to “hear” a third signal – the difference between the two tones. This is not an actual sound, but an electrical signal that can only be perceived within the brain by both brain hemispheres working together. This technique is used for to gain out-of-body experiences, as well as focusing attention, reducing stress, supporting meditation, enhancing sleep and controlling pain.)

40. The inner child
(Lenght: 7 min. another deep-relaxation-piece, co-produced by & with R: Raisch. It activates long forgotten childhood memories and makes us feel warm and save.)

Folk band “Blautopf”

From 1999 - 2004, I played acoustic guitars in a traditional Folk-Band called “Blautopf” (translated: “blue pot” - a mystic place in southern Germany, a spring well, which is surrounded by tales and mysteries). These years, to me, was very instructive. We played much irish music, but also many pieces of traditional music from whole Europe. Traditional music can be very inspiring to a modern musician like me. Because of the completeness, I decided to publish also some of these very nice music pieces here, which I have recorded and produced with “Blautopf” in summer 2003. Have fun with these refreshing sounds!

41. Inisheer (Inisheer is the smallest of the three Aran Islands in front of the irish west coast - the scenery there is as beautiful as this piece of music - windy, sunny, clear and greeeen...) -
42.
An Dro (An “An Dro” is a dance from Brittany/France. The sound has a medieval touch and makes your feet tapping)
43. Parson’s farewell / Pool’s hole (a very old english tune, sounds also a bit medieval, very soft, romantic and beautiful)
44. Ullan Mazurka (a traditional tune from Finland. The sounds and noises at the beginning and the end of this piece should represent a sledge horseride in the cold finnish winter...)
45. Maitre de la maison (again a dance tune from northern France, I produced it with drums, so that it sounds like a perfect Folkrock song.)
46. Pippi L. (This was the main Theme from the famous 60’s TV-Movie “Pippi Longstocking” [I hope this is right in english...] . This is one of the most beloved children’s novel figure of all time in Europe, written by famous swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. This tune originally is an old swedish children’s song. We have put some funny noises to it and refined the arrangement a bit. It always was the most loved tune at our concerts.)

Blautopf” were: Jens Walter - violin, bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, Gerd Paetsch - violin, viola, accordeon, Dieter Hildenbrandt - double bass, Rolf Huisman - percussion, me - guitars, bazouki, mandolin, recordings)
